This Lent we are going to study the book of Philippians aka the book of joy. I will be refernecing the book Because of This I Rejoice: Reading Philippians During Lent by Max O. Vincent. We will be talking about how to joyfully practice spiritual disciplines: prayer, witness, humility, hospitality, asceticism and giving.

For this week, we will focus on joyful witness. God calls each of us to joyfully share the Gospel, the Good News, with others anywhere and anytime.

I want to encourage you to read the whole letter of Philippians in one sitting.

For this week, we will be focusing on Mark 16:14-20; Philippians 1:12-26.

Plan to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am or go to our FB page to link to Youtube live on Sunday mornings or anytime on our website redoakpresbyterianchurch.com

Questions to Ponder:

1. Max O. Vincent says, "What do the words evangelism and witness bring to mind for you? Which one of these words is more comfortable for you than the other? Why?"

2. What things have happened to Paul that you would find discouraging?

3. When has it been most difficult for you to have hope in the Lord?

4. How can everything that happens to you help to spread the Good News? Specifically, how do bad times in your life help tell others about Jesus Christ?

5. Max O Vincent says, "Consider your personal daily activities. What parts of your day are ordered by your commitment to Jesus?"

6. What does Paul's statement "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" (v. 21) teach you about living a life of purpose?

7. What should be your motive in telling others about Jesus Christ?

8. Max O. Vincent says, "When have you been surprised by an unexpected opportunity to witness?"

9. How can you share with others what God is doing in your life? In the life of our church?
