Mark Howell says, "The Gospel will affect every area of our lives, including our passion for living today an dour hope for what is coming tomorrow?"

What do you worry about? Talk to God about your fears. How will the world end? Paul advises us that Satan has yet to attack us with the worst he has, and when he does, it will be a fearful time to be alive. However, Paul also promises that God will always be in control.

God gives us a glimpse into the future so that we can live hopefully and expectantly in the present.

The questions are taken from the Bible study by Donald Baker titled 1 & 2 Thessalonians: How Can I Be Sure? and Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary: Exalting Jesus in 1 & 2 Thessalonians by Mark Howell.

Our readings for this week: 2 Thessalonians 2.

Plan to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30am or go to our FB page to link to Youtube live on Sunday mornings or anytime on our website redoakpresbyterianchurch.com

Questions to think about:

1. How do you feel about the future after reading this passage?

2. What is Paul's proof that the day of the Lord has not come (vv3, 9)?

3. Paul reminds the Thessalonians that he has already told them what is holding back the lawless one (vv. 5-6). Unfortunately, this was something he told them orally, and we don't know what he said. Despite the fact that this information is missing, what can be learned about the way God prevents His people from being destroyed?

4. Why will God cause people to believe the lies of the lawless one (v. 11)?

5. What contrasts do you find between those that God condemns (vv. 10-12) and those that he chooses for salvation (vv. 13-17)?

6. How can you be sure that you are a part of the group chosen for salvation?

7. Even for Christians, the lawless one will bring fear and testing. What can you do to prepare yourself to withstand him? What is God doing to strengthen you?

8. How can Paul's prayer for the Thessalonians (2: 16-17) inform the ways we pray privately and corporately?

9. How can this passage encourage you about facing the future?
