This week we are exploring the five practices from the cross. We will be discovering the connection between the last words of Jesus and the five essential Christian practices (worship & prayer, study, serve, give and share).

Our readings for this week: Matthew 27: 45-50; Luke 23: 32-46; John 19: 25b-30.

Plan to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am or go to our FB page to link to Youtube live on Sunday mornings or anytime on our website redoakpresbyterianchurch.com

Questions to think about:

1. Read Matthew 27:45-50; Luke 23: 32-46; John 19: 25b-30. What was this experience of hearing the last words of Jesus from the cross like for you?

2. What does Jesus' prayer life teach us about Jesus?

3. How has the practice of prayer strengthened your walk with God?

4. Who told you Bible stories and taught you passages of Scripture when you were a child? When did you begin to study the Scriptures on your own?

5. What does it mean to you that Jesus quoted Scripture from the cross?

6. Jesus came to serve all humankind. By His suffering and death on the cross Jesus opened the door to salvation for everyone. How has participation in acts of service strengthened your walk with God?

7. What new insights have you gained about Jesus' self-giving love from reading about Jesus on the cross?

8. When have you made sacrifices for another person out of love for that person?

9. When have you been the recipient of someone's sacrificial love?

10. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34) Why is forgiveness a powerful way to witness to our faith and draw others in Christ?

11. How has the practice of the witnessing and sharing your faith strengthened your walk with God?
