The feasts which God gave to the nation of Israel (and are often called the feasts of Israel) are incredible in their truth about Jesus and for their prophetic revelation concerning God's plan to redeem this planet.

We have studied the first four spring feasts, which Jesus Christ fulfilled by the events of His first coming. While the Passover reminds of our deliverance from death, the Feast of Unleavened bread reminds us we still face the dangerous and permeating effect of sin. The Feast of Firstfruits celebrates God giving us His very best: Himself. In turn, we are to worship God by giving Him OUR very best. On the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), the power of the Holy Spirit was given to God's people.

The fall feasts are the ones Jesus will fulfill in His second coming. One day soon, Jesus will fulfill the Feast of Trumpets with His triumphant return. The second Fall Feast is the Day of Atonement, a day dedicated to showcaseing God's elaborate grace.

The final feast is the Feast of Tabernacles. This feast was an annual reminder to the people that God is the Great Shepherd who has chosen to 'tabernacle among them, to protect and bless them wherever they wander. No matter where we are, God is our True Shelter.

I encourage you to read: Leviticus 23: 33-44; John 7: 1-24, 37-39

Questions to Ponder:

1. As we finish up our time studying the 7 Feasts of the Lord, what questions do you have about God?

2. What characteristics of God are most evident in the Seven Feasts?

3. What encourages you about God from the Seven Feasts?

4. This feast was bookended by Sabbath rest.  Based on all you've learned about the importance of Sabbath from this study, why do you think God scheduled the final feast this way?

5. Once again, God is combatting His people's spiritual amnesia by reminding them of His faithful care. In studying the Old Testament, when do you see God's provision for His people? In studying your own life, when do you see God's provision for His people?

6. Reflect back on your own life. Are there seasons that felt like a desert? How was God your shelter in each season? What did He protect you from?

7. Erin Davis in her book Seven Feasts says, "Like all humans, the Israelites likely settled into routines of comfort and conveninece. The Feast of Booths worked like an annual alarm, alerting their hearts of the need for rhythms of worship. The final feasts nudged them to remember what God had already done and to commit themselves to following Him in the year ahead, even when doing so was uncomfortable."

Is there any area in your life where you are unwilling to experience discomfort in order to obey God?

8. Revelation 21: 1-4 says, "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or cyring or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Are you looking forward to the day when we will tabernacle/live with God forever?
