As the school year winds to a close, I am grateful, both for our public school teachers, staff and administrators, and our church's Sunday School teachers.

I'd like to thank our Sunday School teachers: Peggy Hayes, Mary Rold and Ed Pedersen. These three spent much time preparing and teaching people of all ages during this school year. I see the growth in my children and in myself from attending Sunday School. I look forward to Sunday School this fall. I am praying we have more kids and adults join us. Knowing we will need at least one more teacher, I am praying for people in our church to step up to this important and rewarding job!

I encourage you to thank Peggy, Mary, and Ed. I also want to encourage you to give God thanks and to send a note to someone who has taught you much. Maybe you want to write to one of your public school teachers or a favoite Sunday School teacher from your youth. Maybe you want to write a note to a Bible study leader or someone who has encouraged your faith in Jesus Christ.

I found a prayer I've adapted. I hope you will pray it with me:

Dear Father in heaven, how we thank You for those who have been called by You to minister to the children and adults in our Sunday School classes and in our public school systems. I pray every teacher will recgonize the vital role they play in the spiritual development of those in their charge. Encourage them as they encourage and build up people of all ages. We give You thanks for the gift of teachers in our lives and in the lives of our children.

I pray our Sunday School teachers would be filled with the Holy Spirit and have a deep desire and ability to guide people into a thorough knowledge of the Word of God and the plan of Salvation. Give them the ability and understanding to guide people they teach along the Christian pathway, with sound teaching.

Equip each Sunday School teacher with a desire to study Your Word for themselves, so that they may grow in grace and increase in their knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus. We pray by their example those they teach will also develop a desire to have their own personal walk with the Lord Jesus.

Lord, we pray that you would use each Sunday School teacher to encourage the people of the importance of reading and studying the Bible, in learning the Scriptures for themselves, so they may mature in the faith and be enabled to stand firm in a world that seems to have forgotten the God Who created them. May these Sunday School classes be places where the Lord Jesus is lifted high. In Jesus' name Amen.

Plan to join us again this fall every Sunday 9am for Sunday School for all ages!
