Join us as we continue our sermon series on Prayer.

The first week we dove into the Lord's Prayer - Jesus teaches us how to pray to the Father.

The second week we tackled the question - does prayer make a difference?

The third week we explored the topic of prayer: intimacy with God. Too often God's children get caught up in lists and requests for prayer, making prayer a mechanical duty to perform. It's easy to lose sight of the fact that God simply wants us to spend time with Him.

This week we are discussing the topic of prayer - struggle against the spiritual forces of evil. All prayer is true spiritual warfare. This is true because all of our aims in prayer - closeness with God, spiritual refreshment and growth, other people's forgiveness, blessings from God, forgiveness, peace, joy - are contrary to Satan's design. As your enemy, Satan will oppose our church's efforts to reach out. Prayer is our most powerful weapon in defeating him.

Questions to Ponder:

1. What are your hopes and your desires for your prayer relationship with God? What problems do you struggle with in your prayer life?

2. What are we instructed to do, in Eph. 6:18? When and how are we to do it? What should we be praying for, besides our own daily needs?

3. One way to become more familiar, with how our prayers sound to God, is to pray aloud. We will focus much more, when we are expressing ourselves out loud. Is this how you woul want to hear your children communiating with you?

4. Why do you suppose prayer is such a neglected activity, in many Christian's life?

5. For what reason did Paul especially request their prayers - 6:19? Why is it important to pray for those who preach the gospel?

6. Do you believe the statement, "Satan laughs at our toiling, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray."? Author unknown

7. What weapon did Jesus use when Satan attacked him? Matthew 4:1-11

8. How does Satan wage war against you? Do you have certain "bully temptations and sins" that seem to reoccur? Are there certain tactics, which seem to work on you over and over, to defeat you spiritually?
