Last week we began a new 8-week sermon series on Prayer. The first week we dove into the Lord's Prayer - Jesus teaches us how to pray to the Father. This week we tackle the question - does prayer make a difference? Why should we pray? We will start by defining what prayer is and what prayer isn't!

Our readings for this week: James 5: 13-18; 1Kings 18

Plan to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am or go to our FB page to link to Youtube live on Sunday mornings or anytime on our website redoakpresbyterianchurch.com

Questions to Ponder:

1. I posed these questions last week and challenged you to think about your prayer life. What are your hopes and your desires for your prayer relationship with God?

What problems do you struggle with in your prayer life?

2. Have you struggled with the question "Does prayer make a difference?"

3. What do you understand the purpose of prayer to be?

4. What do you long to experience in your prayer life?

5. How should we offer our prayers to God?

6. R.C. Sproul observes, "One might pray and not be a Christian, but one cannot be a Christian and not pray." Do you agree with this statement?

7. Do we pray to move God? Or do we pray so that we would be changed? Or both?

8. Has prayer made a difference in your life?

9. Do you understand what an awesome privilege it is to kneel before the all-powerful Father and know that He listens and will respond? How does this knowledge change your prayer life?
