This final week of our sermon series of prayer is about Jesus and His prayer life.

Questions to Ponder:

1. Questions to keep pondering as we study prayer:

     What are your hopes and your desires for your prayer relationship with God?

     What problems do you struggle with in your prayer life?

2. Jesus prayed early in the morning and Jesus prayed at night, sometimes all night. Do you have a regular time to pray?

3. When Jesus prayed, He prayed in sincerity and in faith. Jesus believed the Father heard and would answer His prayers. At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus boldly prayed, thankful the Father heard Him. When you pray, do you believe God hears you and will respond?

4. In John 12, Jesus prays a prayer of anguish. He has come to give what no one else could. His intense conflict of the soul became a complete victory of a wholly surrendered will. When have you wrestled in prayer over doing God's will?

5. "Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!" Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." John 12: 27-29

     As Jesus was finishing his ministry on earth, he wanted to ensure God got all the glory. So he asked simply that at cost God would be glorified. How does praying to God bring glory to Him?

6. In John 17, Jesus prays for us beneath the shadow of the Cross. Intercessory prayer is prayer for the needs of others. Why does God want us to pray for others? Why is it important to know that Jesus Christ prays for us today?

7. Three times Christ prayed as He died on the Cross. His closing breath was used to pray. Christ prayed for His enemies. Christ had a moment of separation from God. Christ committed Himself to God. Do you pray for your enemies? Do you pray when you feel separated from God? Are you committed so full to God you cannot go a day without prayer?

8. What habits of prayer have you developed in your life? Do you pray all day, not just at a set time? Do you pray Scripture back to God? Do you pray even when you don't feel like it? Do you always pray before making a major decision?
