In honor of the 250th anniversary of the writing of "Amazing Grace," we are spending this Lent focusing on God's Amazing Grace!

Those in the Bible who experienced the amazing grace of God help us each week to realize that though we once were lost in sin, we now have been found by Jesus, and though we once were blind to God's mercy, we now can see His love at work in us through our Savior's death and resurrection.

We see God's amazing grace at work in the life of the prophet Isaiah, who proclaimed to God's people the salvation that was to come through the Suffering Servant. In the second week we got a two-fer: two sons in need of God's Amazing Grace. This week we study the Apostle Paul, who turned from persecutor of Christ to proclaimer of our Lord through the mighty power of the Holy Spirit.

Our readings for this week: Isaiah 53: 1-6; 1 Timothy 1:12-17; Mark 2: 13-17.

Questions to Ponder:

1. This is a question we will continue to discuss during this sermon series:

How would you define the amazing grace of God?

2. Do you think there are any sins too serious for God to forgive?

3. What do you notice about Paul's attitude towards his previous condition?

4. What about his attitude towards his present condition?

5. What purpose/purposes did Christ have in choosing Paul?

6. Finish this statement, "If Paul could be saved, then..."

7. Why does Paul comment on his own life after a paragraph on the law (1: 8-11)? Why does he share this with Timothy and the church that will read the letter? How might sharing this help get the church back on center?

8. What does Paul's testimony tell us about God's grace?

9. Why is it important for us to also share our testimony?

10. How has the amazing grace of God changed your life?
