This year as I prepare for Advent, I'm reading Adam Hamilton's book Incarnation: Rediscovering The Significance of Christmas.

This book caught my attention because I believe this Advent & Christmas season we need a reminder of WHY Jesus came to earth. Adam says, "His parents called him Jesus. But the prophets, shepherds, wise men, and angels addressed him by other names ---including Messiah, Savior, and Emmanuel."

Together we are going to explore the meaning behind these titles, using Adam's book as a jumping off point in our exploration!

Plan to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 a,m, OR check out our website anytime at redoakpresbyterianchurch.com

Questions to Ponder:

1. How is a president like and unlike a king?

2. What does it mean for you to call Jesus KING? How meaningful do you find this title for Him?

3. Adam Hamilton reflects on the royal titles bestowed upon Jesus in the New Testament's Advent and Christmas stories. What do you think of when you think about royalty? How easily or often do you think of Jesus as royalty?

4. Adam Hamilton writes, "I don't believe it is an overstatement to say that Jesus is the single most influential person to have walked this planet." (page 39). Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not?

5. How important is it for modern Christians to continue calling Jesus King? Why?

6. What other titles or images, if any, would help people today understand Jesus in the way the title King does?

7. What would it look like to stop treating Jesus as simply a role model and start serving Him as our sovereign king? To deny ourselves, take up our cross, and make serving Jesus our highest priority?

8. During this Advent season, ask yourself, "How can I better serve my King?"
